I am not a diver, what can I do during my stay?

We have lots on offer for non-divers! We have an Ocean Safari which leaves daily and is a 2 hour boat ride looking for Whale Sharks, Giant Mantas, Dolphins, Turtles and Humpback Whales (when they’re in season). If we see one of these amazing animals, we will lower you into the water so that you can snorkel with them.
We can also take you snorkeling in the shallow water of the estuary in the neighboring bay to see Seahorses, Juvenile Frogfish and many more micro marine life.
We also offer 2 kayaking trips: 1 half day in the mangroves and 1 full day visiting a nearby island and having lunch on the island.

We have a dhow boat (a traditional sailing boat) where we can take you out on the estuary where the water is very calm and shallow. We can offer tailor-made tours but our most popular tour is the Sundowners cruise where you can enjoy an unrivalled view of the African sunset whilst enjoying a refreshing drink and some local snacks.

I haven’t dived for a while or if I am a newly qualified diver?

Do I need to take something special into account if I haven’t dived for a while or if I am a newly qualified diver?

If you’ve not dived within the last 12 months, we strongly recommend doing a Scuba Review before you dive. Tofo diving can be challenging at times: we do boat diving with mostly negative entry; there can be a strong current on the surface and on the dives; the visibility can sometimes make it a little disorientating, so better to be safe than sorry! The Scuba Review is ideal if you have had a short break from diving or if you are a newly qualified diver that has not been diving for a few months. It allows you to refresh your skills and theory and promotes your safety as a diver.

What safety equipment do you have on the dive boats?

Liquid Dive Adventures have a first aid kit, emergency aid oxygen (DAN system), tools, compass, GPS, mobile phones and a marine radio.

Can I do night dives or wreck dives?

We don’t have wrecks in Tofo and we’re not equipped to do night diving as we don’t have lights on the beach or on the boats, but we do offer night dives in partnership with Barra Reef Divers. Look at our special packages for more details

Can I do decompression dives?

We only do recreational diving in Tofo.

What do I need to bring with me?

It is essential you bring your Dive Certification card. If you wish to use Nitrox, you’ll also need your Nitrox Certification card. If you haven’t got Nitrox Certification and you want it, you can do the course with us.
It is recommended that you have Dive Insurance. We recommend DAN (Diver Alert Network) as they are specialists in diver safety.
We can offer discount for bringing your own equipment (BCD, Regulator, Wetsuit). We have everything you need here and all dive prices include full equipment rental. It is 800mzn per day to rent a dive computer.
We can provide mask, snorkel and closed heel fins but we’d recommend bringing your own for comfort and fit.
Insect Repellent and Medications: you can get common medicines in nearby Babalaza and Inhambane but if you require specific medication, you should bring it with you. Tofo is also a high malarial area so we strongly advise taking anti-malaria medicine for the duration of your stay. We recommend Malarone or Doxycycline but NOT Larium.
We recommend bringing a supply of broad spectrum antibiotics, painkillers, anti-diarrhea tablets, antihistamines, antiseptic cream, cold and flu medicine, swimmers ear, antibiotic ear/eye drops, antibacterial hand-wash.
Sun block as well as after-sun cream, hat and sunglasses. The sun is extremely strong here.
